Ron and Kim Scadina were radically converted after traumatic events changed and shaped their love for Christ as they surrendered in brokenness. In this brokenness, Jesus Christ rescued each of them out of the bondage of sin as they were destined to go to hell for their life choices. They were both raised Catholic. Kim attended Catholic school for eight years in Santa Cruz. Both were baptized, experienced Holy communion, were confirmed and Ron went on to attend a Jesuit University (Santa Clara University) for three years on an Army R.O.T.C. scholarship as well as serving in the Army reserves for three years. He finished his degree in Psychology at UCSC after passing the comprehensive board exams. Both Ron & Kim spent alot of years learning but not growing spiritually; they both had hard hearts.
Karen Barton heads up the Community TV relationship as she produces a weekly TV show called Reality Church. In 2007, Karen had a dream of riding a roller coaster in a separate car just behind Pastor Ron. She let go of the fear of a free fall and leaned into the downward thrill of the ride. At this point, the cars came off the tracks and were released to sail all over Santa Cruz. Karen accepts this to mean that the Santa Cruz Revival church plant has taken flight into ministry and is airing life giving messages of hope on the TV waves to all those living in and around downtown Santa Cruz.
She was reared Keokuk in southeastern Iowa and graduated from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in biology with a chemistry minor. She has been a missionary to the nations serving with the Foursquare Gospel Church in South Korea. Upon her return, she continued her education by attending seminary at LIFE Bible College in Los Angeles receiving a four year Ministerial Certificate. Karen married John Barton and they were both ordained with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel and later served in Nigeria, West Africa. After returning to the States, she again continued her education and attended CSUMB for a fifth year education degree and earned a High School Mathematics Secondary Education Teacher Certification.
She has a heart for the homeless and is a prayer warrior. Karen feels that every time we film one more outreach, that we are multiplying our efforts to allow other groups, prisons, nursing homes and churches to receive ministry as well as You Tube and the online audience. She feels this is her spiritual legacy as her parents created a locally owned Christian TV station in her home town of Keokuk, Iowa.
Karen's Call to Downtown SC
I was trying to find a parking space on a Sunday evening in the drizzling rain. I had my windows rolled up listening to a Christian CD. My window wipers were going left - right - left as my car splashed through the small puddles in the road. As I rounded the corner by Border's Bookstore, my thoughts were interrupted by someone calling my name. I did not pay much attention until the voice continued each time getting louder and louder and more desperate. In fact it became a blood curdling call for help.
My thoughts were jerked from the song I was listening to, and I suddenly realized that my name being called over and over again was not part of the song. It was not on the CD. I thought that perhaps someone from our Thursday Street Ministry had recognized my car. I turned the stereo off and rolled down my window expecting to see someone rush up to my car. There was dead silence except for the pitter patter of the rain drops. There was no one looking for me. I am not haunted by this experience, but still horrified that someone could have been that desperate. Even to this day, I remember the determination implied by the calling. I know that many souls driven by their needs and personal destruction are calling out today for salvation and deliverance and healing. Ministry in downtown Santa Cruz is my God given assignment to evangelize and facilitate the lost.

Jacque Sutton is blessed to live in beautiful Santa Cruz County, on the coast of California, along with her husband of 24 years, Derk and four wonderful children: Jennifer 21, Andrew 19, Samuel 10 and Hannah-Marie 7. Jacque says, "Funny enough, as someone who is not athletic in the least, as long as we have been a family I have always thought of us as TEAM SUTTON."
Jacque has been ministering in Santa Cruz for the last thirteen years along the side of Karen Barton, associate pastor of SCR, a growing ministry here. Jacque has served in leadership & Co-Led MOPS as well as God Rocks, an alternative ministry for recovery programs and biker outreaches. She is a missionary and minister of the prophetic to the nations specifically in So. Korea, Israel, Scotland, Wales, England as well as Central and Southern California. To all she meets, it is her call to Bless, as she has been blessed, Genesis 12:2
In recognition of God given prophetic ministry, Jacque was asked to come on staff as Prophetic Leader of the SCR fellowship along with senior Pastor Ron Scadina and Karen Barton. She has been duly installed as a member of the SCR team and is serving on its Board of Trustees. The triangular pastoral relationship supports the 5-fold ministry model according to the scriptures. A three-fold chord is not easily broken.
